The Descendants of Confederate Veterans
Austin, Texas
The Descendants of Confederate Veterans present a check to Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson in Austin.
Texas General Land Office
Terry Ayers, Gillis Bartles and Steve von Roeder present Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson with a check for $250. Commissioner Patterson is a strong supporter of Southern Heritage and Texas history. His contributions are invaluable and the Descendants of Confederate Veterans supports his efforts.

Working with other organizations who share our interest in heritage preservation and working with the general public are two very important missions that the Descendants of Confederate Veterans strives to carry out. We can all cover more ground by working with other organizations and the public always has an interest in learning facts of which they were previously unaware.

The Descendants of Confederate Veterans is proud of the events that we have attended to promote our message. In a very short period of time we have created a high public profile and presence that has successfully and positively conveyed our message to the citizens of Texas.

Our Austin, Texas members have continued their presence at the annual Pound House event in Dripping Springs, Texas as they have for years. We now have several chapters across Texas and we will display their event successes here shortly.

Of course, we could not enjoy our success without the invaluable assistance of the ladies who celebrate out heritage with us all. Pictured on the left is Lyn von Roeder, very affectionately known to us as "Ma Bear". Without Lyn's help we would not have the Descendants of Confederate Veterans. Thanks Ma Bear! To the right is Charlie Yates who gave an outstanding speech at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin at our Second Annual Reunion in February.

Of course he can go on for awhile and the boys have a sense of humor as well. In all seriousness we would like to thank Charlie Yates for his contribution to the Descendants of Confederate Veterans and to Texas History as well. I would also like to take the opportunity to invite everyone to join the Descendants of Confederate Veterans in celebrating Texas History Month which is for the entire month of March. Let us remember all of those who sacrificed so much to make Texas the great state that it is!

The Descendants of Confederate Veterans enjoys an excellent fraternal relationship with the Military Order of the Stars and Bars. The MOS&B is comprised of descendants of Confederate officers and government officials. It is the only Southern Heritage society to have been formed by actual Confederate Veterans. Pictured are attendees, and their families, of the recent MOS&B Convention in Austin, Texas. Many are also members of the Descendants of Confederate Veterans.
